You can also head to Half Moon Bay to watch in awe as surfers try to ride Mavericks, one of the most challenging waves in the world. Santa Cruz is home to dozens of independently-owned stores and restaurants. You'll love browsing the local surf shops and finding the best taco in town! You can probably entertain yourself for an afternoon just walking around downtown, checking out the variety of street performers.
