1) Bring Your Furry Friend
Whether it’s Fluffy or Fido, nothing will make your new space feel like home more than having your best friend running around in it. Already imagining Fido jumping on the couch? Good because Essex is best friend-friendly. Some of our properties even have designated outdoor pet areas like The Cairns in Seattle and our Apex Community in Silicon Valley has its own “Pet Spaw.”
2) Hang Up Your Photos and Art
And play some music while you’re at it! You can even turn this into a fun DIY project with your roommate. Even if you don’t have many photos, be sure to set them out, or better yet, if you have a lot of photos and not enough frames, head to your local store and pick some out.
3) Introduce Yourself to Your Neighbors
Right now would be a good time for a coffee break, but before you take off, introduce yourself to your neighbors and bring your furry friend along to jump-start conversation. Who knows, your neighbor might also have a best friend, and you can invite both for coffee at the park!
4) Get to Know Your Neighborhood
While you’re out with your new neighbor, pick his or her brain to find out where they like to go. There might be a coffee shop, public transportation line or amenity you didn’t know about.
5) Take the Rest of the Day off at Your New CommunityEpic Apartments in San Jose, CA
Ideally, you’d be done by now, but some boxes might have to wait till tomorrow. So why not change into something more comfortable and get to know your new Essex community? Whether it’s a dip in the pool, a game of tennis or checking in with your community to see what movie’s playing at the screening room, it’s now time to enjoy.
With Essex, you’re home.
