Moving to a new apartment can be both fun and stressful, but how do you know when the time is really right? There are some obvious times, like a job in a new place, starting a family, or to get into a better neighborhood, but what about when the walls are just closing in or the layout doesn’t work for you anymore?
Your new home should make you feel comfortable, and reflect the life you want to live. There are some signs to look for when you’re trying to decide whether you should move.
- Too small
For example, is your home overstuffed? It doesn’t need to be an episode of Hoarders for it to be too crowded and cramped for you. Consider moving to a new apartment to get some more space.
- Too big
Another sign it might be time to look for a new home is when you have the opposite problem: there’s way too much space for you. That frequently happens to empty nesters, when all their kids have grown up and moved away. If you’re in that position, you may find that there’s just no way to fill all the space in your apartment. Moving to a smaller place could be just the thing you need to start on a new phase in your life.
- Inconvenient to everyday living
Even if the size of your apartment is just right for you, there can be other reasons why you need to move on. These can include a bad commute, a bad building (or building owner), or simply the feeling that it’s time to move on. When you start to feel that way, you don’t need to stay stuck. You can look for a new home, and find the place that’s truly best for you.
