Meet our Maintenance Supervisor of the Year, Jared Harrop!

Jared Harrop, Maintenance Supervisor of the Year.

Jared won Maintenance Supervisor of the Year at The Elliot at Mukilteo, and is now starring at the gorgeous Ballinger Commons.  Find out what he enjoys most about his position and the answer to who would win in a Superman vs. Batman rumble.

1.  Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m originally from a very small town in Ohio but left about 17 years ago, as small-town life didn’t really suit me. I moved out here and eventually moved into Ballinger Commons, where I lived for about 12 years. One day when I was paying my rent back in 2006, I saw a “Help Wanted” sign in the window. I’ve been with the company ever since.

2. Is there a project or accomplishment you’re most proud of?

I’m really proud to be a part of the Essex Field Facilitator program. I’ve always enjoyed learning and teaching, and it’s been incredible to be a part of helping other people learn and sharpen their skills. It’s something I’ve been looking forward to for years.

3. What have you enjoyed most about working here?

Feeling super supported by my co-workers, the teams I’ve had the privilege of working with, and having folks supervising me who’ve really wanted to see me succeed, and who’ve done everything they can to help me do so.

4. What do you like most about your community?

I am back at Ballinger Commons again and it feels like coming home. I lived here for 12 years and when I bought a house it was right down the street. I love this neighborhood and this community, and I’m so excited to be back working here again!

5. Batman or Superman?

Batman, obviously. Aside from the fact that he always kicks Superman’s butt when they go head-to-head in the comics, I love the idea of a superhero whose only superpower is being really, really prepared. Plus if I could have a utility belt as a Maintenance guy, that would just be the best day ever!
