The Brownstein-Louis Building
The Brownstein-Louis Bldg’s original ornate facade was altered in the late 50’s to adopt its current Art Deco appearance. It has horizontal rotating pivot windows facing the street and an interior courtyard garden. Balconies overlooking an interior light well are in selected lofts. Other lofts have historic murals on their interior walls. During the original construction of the building, the Brownstein-Louis Clothing Company was expelled from their 20-year membership in the Merchants and Manufacturers Association when they advertised for union labor to help build the structure.
