Responsibilities

Position Summary: In this position, you will play a key role in supporting the ongoing success and growth of the organization. You will create strategic marketing and communication programs that will effectively drive rental traffic to Essex properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing Business-to-Consumer (B2C) outreach and engagement using the most effective traditional and digital platforms, and will bring a data driven, analytical approach to attracting residents and building Essex’s understanding of its market. You will oversee the planning, development, and implementation of marketing campaigns, as well as measure the impact for all leasing outreach programs. Promote business plans and manage communications across the organization. A key deliverable will be developing a strategic, unified message - Work with leadership and with cross-functional input from key internal departments, to develop a strategic and operational marketing and communication plan for the organization. Identify key objectives, data needed to evaluate success, target platforms, and audiences and the resources needed to execute the plan. - Develop an overall budget and determine needed resources to achieve specific goals in the marketing plan and manage against the budget. - Hire, manage, develop, and retain a highly respected and effective marketing and communication team. - Lead an analytical approach to marketing and communication. Research, analyze and monitor the demographic factors that affect the present and future market potential of assigned properties. - Cultivate a deep knowledge of the technology impacting apartment marketing; analyze this market data to bring relevance to the on-going marketing and communication strategy. - Lead a team that creates a dynamic, digital and social media marketing presence online. - Monitor social media programs and report on effectiveness of campaigns; make adjustments for maximum results. - Oversee, at a high level, the maintenance and optimization of websites. - Aid in the integration, usage, and maintenance of software that assists in Marketing/Business Development initiative/leasing. - Establish and foster relationships with key business partners to ensure the Company’s image remains consistent and fresh with the target consumer audiences. - Collaborate with property managers to establish and maintain productive media relations to maximize positive publicity for the properties and its tenants. - Coordinate, monitor and measure media (including social media) coverage of the property relating to marketing and operational activities.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of eight to ten years’ experience in marketing, communications, product development, or a similar discipline. A real estate background is a plus. - A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. An MBA would be ideal. - Leadership experience managing a highly effective team, ideally through a transition. - Possesses a deep understanding of digital marketing on platforms such as; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube, and of social media management through vendors such as Hootsuite and website oversight. - Extensive understanding of budget forecasting and management. - Possesses a sense of urgency to deliver on commitments. - Applies a team oriented and collaborative approach across the organization and works well with other departments such as the leasing and property management teams. - Must be willing and available to travel to properties as required.
