More than 200 residents and community guests attended the August 14 grand opening celebration of Aviara apartment homes in Mercer Island, Washington.
Aviara, which opened in March 2013, is BRE’s newest Seattle-area apartment community. It features 166 luxury studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes and is nearly 90 percent leased. It is also eligible for LEED certification, a nationally recognized sustainability program established by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Mercer Island Deputy Mayor Dan Grausz attended the event and presented Aviara with a certificate of appreciation from the city, noting that it was a good example of new development that benefits Mercer Island and surrounding areas. With a population of just over 22,000, Mercer Island has been widely recognized as one of the premier residential communities in the State of Washington.
The event was held in Aviara’s garden and featured beer from Bellevue Brewing Company, wines from Fivash Cellars, a German-inspired menu, sweets from Oh! Chocolate, a DJ and a photo booth.
Board members and staff from the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Foundation attended the event and were presented with a check from BRE in support of the Foundation.
“Being a good community partner and creating a community where residents feel at home are our main goals for Aviara, and for all BRE’s communities,” said Kevin Grani, BRE’s vice president property operations – northern division. “The celebration was to show our appreciation to our residents and the city of Mercer Island.”
