1. Would you give us a little bit of background about yourself?
Along with the satisfaction and duty of serving my country, I also found the love of my life and have been married for 16 years. We have 3 amazing children (2 teenage daughters and a 9-year-old son). I moved back to California after my military tour where I earned my real estate license in 2003 and had a stint with home sales and mortgage loans. In 2012 I was given the opportunity to join Essex and begin my new adventure.
2. What’s your favorite ’90s jam?
Oh, the memories … most of the jams were total opposites, now that I think about it. It was either tons of slow jams in the disc changer like 112, Az Yet, Mint Condition, Boyz II Men, Kenny Lattimore or bass thumping, car rattling, West Coast rap! I love Tupac, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Snoop. Wow…the ’90s!
3. Is there a project or accomplishment that you are most proud of?
At Essex, I am proud of being recognized for the collaborative effort of my team that has afforded me the ability to achieve Community Manager of the Year in 2014. There is absolutely no possibility this could have been achieved without their tireless efforts to get thing done, to learn and grow in their responsibilities and in not accepting that good enough is great!
4. What have you enjoyed most about working here?
The blend between having resources at your disposal, access to individuals who will give you mentorship, and being put in a position to be successful based on the belief that YOU are the right person for the job and you’re allowed to work within the framework and outside “the box.”
5. What’s your favorite memory at Essex?
I love seeing the successful contrast between the abilities of our company and corporate culture deliver superior peer-leading results, balanced with the down-to-earth, approachable and relatable interaction at our meetings, awards and company picnics (the dancing, the singing, the carefree attitudes).
