Meet Alex Perez, Maintenance Supervisor of the Year from The Stuart in Pasadena

June 5th 2015

“The best part about working for Essex is that I get to make people feel at home and make our residents feel valued,” says Alex Perez, our Maintenance Supervisor of the Year winner from The Stuart at Sierra Madre Villa. Learn what his favorite ’90s jam is and what he’s most proud of!

 1.       Would you give us a little bit of background about yourself?

I was born in Los Angeles; I’m Mexican-American and am the youngest of 6 siblings. I started as a porter with BRE Properties in 2004 at Windsor Court in Koreatown. I worked there for 3 years and then transferred to Alessio as a maintenance technician. From there I was promoted to maintenance supervisor for The Stuart, where I have been for 7 years.

2.       What’s your favorite ’90s jam?

Vanilla Ice – “Ice, Ice Baby”

3.       Is there a project or accomplishment you’re most proud of?

I married my beautiful wife of 16 years and had my teenage son who is now in high school. And of course, winning Supervisor of the Year; I pride myself in providing the best customer service and giving my 100% in all the work that I do.

 4.       What superpower would you like to have and why?

I would love to have the power to time-travel. It would be interesting to see my parents when they were children. I would also like to meet some great boxers of the ’60s and ’70s. Boxing is my passion!
