In Hollywood's Golden Age, Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards were alive with the glitz and glamour of some of the biggest names in the city's rich history. Thanks to advances in film and audio technology beginning in the early 20th century, subsequent decades produced an abundance of stars, blockbuster films, and newly established studios. Hollywood became one of the world's most recognizable entertainment districts.
Although the Golden Age eventually gave way to a changing entertainment industry, Hollywood still embodies the spirit of its past while continuing to evolve through new media, employment opportunities, culinary and retail destinations, and lifestyle amenities. Perfectly placed amid that energy is Wallace on Sunset, a luxury apartment community that brings together Old Hollywood inspiration and contemporary living. Art deco influences, modern amenities, smart-home features, and a central Sunset Boulevard location connect the community to both Hollywood history and today's entertainment scene.
Hollywood has long been a center of the film, television, music, and entertainment industries, but the neighborhood's business landscape continues to evolve. Studios, streaming companies, production offices, music businesses, creative agencies, and technology companies all contribute to the area's role as an employment and cultural center.
Columbia Square and other newer office developments along and near Sunset Boulevard have added contemporary workspaces to an area already surrounded by historic studios and entertainment landmarks. For residents working in media, production, entertainment, or other creative industries, Wallace on Sunset offers a central location near many of Hollywood's major business districts.
Hollywood's evolution has also brought new restaurants, hotels, residences, and gathering spaces to the neighborhood. SUGARFISH by Sushi Nozawa operates nearby at Columbia Square, while hotels including the Kimpton Everly and Dream Hollywood contribute to the area's dining, nightlife, and hospitality scene.
At Wallace on Sunset, residents have access to a collection of indoor and outdoor amenities, including a sky deck, pool and spa, clubhouse, two-story fitness center, bike storage, electric vehicle charging, and pet-friendly spaces including a dog park.
Studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes offer contemporary finishes and features such as stainless-steel appliances, quartz countertops, in-home washers and dryers, walk-in closets, and smart-home technology. Current floor plans and availability vary, so prospective residents can compare options directly on the Wallace on Sunset community page.
Wallace on Sunset is surrounded by some of Hollywood's best-known entertainment landmarks. For music lovers, the Hollywood Palladium is just across Sunset Boulevard. Avalon Hollywood and other music venues are nearby, while the Hollywood Bowl is less than two miles away.
Ovation Hollywood, formerly known as Hollywood & Highland, combines shopping, dining, entertainment, and major Hollywood attractions. The complex is home to the Dolby Theatre, while the nearby TCL Chinese Theatre remains one of Hollywood's most recognizable movie palaces. The historic Egyptian and El Capitan theatres also continue Hollywood's long connection to film and live entertainment.
At the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, old Hollywood lives on through the Capitol Records Tower, completed in 1956, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which has continued expanding since its creation in 1960. During Hollywood's heyday, the Los Angeles Times even described Hollywood and Vine as one of the area's busiest intersections.
Closest of all to Wallace on Sunset is the historic Earl Carroll Theatre, built in 1938 by American theatrical producer, director, songwriter, and composer Earl Carroll. The elaborate supper-club theater became known for its spectacular stage productions and a 20-foot-high neon portrait of performer Beryl Wallace above its entrance.
After changing uses and ownership over the decades, the theater became the focus of a preservation effort involving Essex Property Trust, the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation, Hollywood Heritage, the Los Angeles Conservancy, the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, and local officials. That effort helped secure the Earl Carroll Theatre's designation as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and incorporated preservation commitments into the Wallace on Sunset development.
The theater's history adds another layer to Wallace on Sunset's location. Residents live alongside a property connected to Hollywood's entertainment legacy while being surrounded by the restaurants, workplaces, venues, and cultural destinations shaping the neighborhood today.
